The System Sensor–panel has been engineered to operate as a dedicated locomotive fire alarm and suppression controller. It provides continuous monitoring of thermal conditions within engine and electrical compartments and coordinates the activation of suppression equipment when required.
The locomotive fire detection and suppression panel continuously monitors thermal conditions within the engine and electrical compartments using fixed‑temperature detectors rated at 200°C. These detectors are positioned throughout identified fire‑risk zones and provide early warning of abnormal heat rise.
When a detector reaches its activation temperature, the system responds according to a dual‑stage logic:

All field devices—including detectors, actuators, trainline interfaces, and power connections—are routed through a central junction box. This junction box serves as the primary interface between the panel and the locomotive’s fire protection hardware.
The locomotive fire panel is housed in a robust metal enclosure measuring 370 mm (H) × 320 mm (W) × 112 mm (D). A stainless‑steel front fascia includes a hinged protective cover to shield the LCD and restrict unauthorized access.
The enclosure and fascia are designed as a direct mechanical replacement for the existing system, maintaining identical mounting points and cut‑outs for seamless changeover.
The panel is fully backwards compatible with the original fire suppression system. All field wiring, terminations, and interfaces remain unchanged. Upgrading requires only disconnecting the existing 40‑way ribbon cable and securing the new fascia to the current enclosure—no modifications to the driver’s cab installation are needed.

The Locomotive Fire System Cable Tester is a purpose‑built commissioning and maintenance tool designed to support every generation of locomotive fire detection hardware, including FP280, FP3470, System Sensor panels, and both diesel and electric locomotive platforms. It simulates the behaviour of legacy and modern fire panels, monitors all detection zones for open, short, and normal conditions, and reads precise end‑of‑line resistor values to identify cable faults before they become failures. With full backward compatibility to systems dating back to 1980 and dedicated modes for new Flex electric locomotives, the tester provides a safe, reliable way to validate wiring, actuators, trainline functions, and suppression interfaces during installation, factory testing, and ongoing service.


F3 (Fluorine-Free Foam) water suppression fire cylinders are environmentally responsible fire-extinguishing units designed to replace older AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) systems. These systems use fluorine-free foam concentrates that do not contain persistent bio-accumulative toxic compounds, making them a safer choice for the environment while still being highly effective on Class A (ordinary combustibles) and Class B (hydrocarbon fuels) fires.
